Belgrade Deputy Major slams Oz over Novak
Deputy Mayor of Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, Goran Vesic, has slammed Australia’s handling of Novak Djokovic’s vaccine row.
Vesic expressed his support for Novak Djokovic in an opinion piece for Serbian outlet Novosti, saying: “There is a certain minister of immigration in Australia, his name is Alex Hawke.
“Nobody’s ever heard of him before, but everyone in the world knows who Novak Djokovic is.
“And now that Hawke person is considering whether to expel Nole, the greatest tennis player of all time.
“After that news, the whole world finally found out who Hawke, a minister in Scott Morrison’s government, was.”
He continued: “I continue to follow the news from Australia and I can’t stop feeling stunned. The court ruled that Nole is a free man, that he can play at the Australian Open, which he has won nine times already, then – there he is, Hawke jumps onto the court.
“Who the heck is this, I think to myself. And is there an end to this harassment of the greatest athlete in the world?”
