As reported by The Korea Herald (through gamesindustry.biz), Microsoft recently notified Minecraft users in South Korea they would need an Xbox Live account to continue playing the video game. Users got around this constraint by signing into Minecraft, which is formally rated as a 12+ title by the nations Games Rating and Administration Committee, with their Mojang accounts, however it seems Microsoft has now taken away that option. The relocation seems to relate to South Koreas Cinderella law, which restricts children from playing video games between midnight and 6am. In a statement provided to gamesindustry.biz, a Microsoft representative stated, “We are proceeding with the worldwide migration of Mojang accounts to Microsoft accounts for Minecraft: Java Edition including for our gamers in South Korea.
