Apple plans to release a new MacBook Air with a mini-LED display and several color alternatives around mid 2022, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said today in a research note obtained by MacRumors. These details line up with previous reports about the new MacBook Air from sources like Bloombergs Mark Gurman and YouTube tech personality Jon Prosser.
A vibrant MacBook Air idea shared by Jon ProsserKuo said the new MacBook Air will include an “brand new design” with a similar type element as the next MacBook Pro designs, which are also anticipated to feature a mini-LED display screen and flatter bottom and top edges. Previous reports have actually recommended the brand-new MacBook Air will also feature a quicker Apple silicon chip and a MagSafe-branded magnetic power cable television.
Kuo stated it is not yet specific whether the existing M1 MacBook Air will be terminated after the mini-LED model goes into mass production, and this could have a result on pricing. If the M1 MacBook Air is discontinued, Kuo said the mini-LED design will probably start at the same $999 rate. Kuo believes it might get a cost cut if the M1 MacBook Air does stay available for purchase along with the mini-LED model.
Chinese maker BOE will provide the mini-LED screens for the brand-new MacBook Air, whereas LG and Sharp will provide mini-LED display screens for the upcoming MacBook Pro designs, according to Kuo.
Apple last updated the MacBook Air with the M1 chip in November 2020.
