Initial Story [Tue 17th Apr, 2018 11:25 BST]: Castlevania is one of Konamis most beloved and popular franchises, and will be dear to any seasoned Nintendo gamer; games like Castlevania III: Draculas Curse, Super Castlevania IV and Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow are amazing computer game, and the series has actually enjoyed a specifically worthwhile association with Nintendo during its long history.
Following the frustrating critical reaction to Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2, Konami placed the series in stasis – up until now, that is. Yes, were getting a brand-new Castlevania video game – however before you get too ecstatic, its only coming to Apples iOS.
Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls is embeded in a future where “Count Dracula has been entirely destroyed”, however “a single letter delivered to Genya Arikado … put an end to that tranquil period”. The words “The Grimoire has cut loose and Count Dracula will be reanimated” are written inside, activating a quest to discover the author and resolve the mystery.
As Arikado, who formerly appeared in Aria of Sorrow and Dawn of Sorrow, the game includes fan favourites such as Alucard, Simon Belmont and Maria Renard, and will have a focus on four-player co-op and competitive play. It appears to adopt the same side-scrolling gameplay seen in Symphony of the Night and the GBA and DS trilogies, but with 2.5 D visuals rather of hand-drawn 2D.
We need to confess all looks quite good – specifically for a smart device game – and provided the high volume of mobile titles arriving on Switch, theres a possibility this might be adjusted for Nintendos system in the future. In the meantime nevertheless, we cant help however feel a little disappointed that Konami isnt focusing on making this a AAA console release; the series definitely should have that much.
You can sign up on the video games official page to be notified when it introduces in Japan; theres no solid release date as.
