After their names were missing from the original line-up, it’s finally been confirmed that Adam Woodyatt and Simon Gregson WILL indeed be going into I’m a Celebrity.

When the cast for the new series was announced by ITV at the start of last week the soap stars’ names were missing from the list, much to the surprise of fans, given that they had been hotly tipped to appear.

While some viewers voiced their disappointment that the actors best known for playing Ian Beale in EastEnders and Steve McDonald in Coronation Street respectively, weren’t on the line-up, others were sure they’d be late arrivals.

And bookies seem convinced too as they put Simon among the hot picks to win I’m A Celebrity this year in spite of him being absent.

Adam and Simon’s arrivals into camp were teased at the end of Wednesday’s show which saw Naughty Boy and Arlene Phillips back track on their intentions to quit.

While left rolling their eyes at the pair’s u-turn, viewers were very excited about Adam and Simon’s late entrance, with Ant and Dec revealing they were to become Lords of the Manor and take on the next trial.

One tweeted: “Get Adam Woodyatt & Simon Gregson in. 3 soap icons and a Saturday. What a series.”

Another reacted: “Pretty convenient how they’ve left Adam Woodyatt and Simon Gregson to go in the Castle late, so Fans go about them OMG it’s Ian Beale and Steve McDonald, so they dominate the trials!” and a third already tipped them to do well, posting: “The final 6 will be Adam woodyatt, Simon Gregson, Richard Madeley, Danny Miller, frankie Bridge and kadeena cox.”

Expect bookies to further adjust their odds on I’m A Celebrity winner now that Adam and Simon have been officially unveiled as late arrivals.

Prior to Wednesday’s episode, Simon was fifth favourite, behind David Ginola, Frankie Bridge, Danny Miller and Snoochie Shy, who has really come into the frame in recent days after being TV gold in the trials.
